What you've been eying, ma'am, is off the shelf, no matter how it stands, so neatly posed. Whether a gift or something for yourself, I must inform you that the store is closed.
Feel free to window shop, but don’t expect to claim this item for your shopping cart. You thought you'd strike a bargain? Incorrect. There’s not a price tag on this piece of art,
so shoulder your expensive pocketbook, wallet your platinum card, and drop the charm. It's fine to ogle; take a good hard look, but if you touch you'll trigger the alarm.
There’s no transaction to negotiate. This joint is closed. Go home. You came too late.

Now that's a metaphor, David. The voice and form, as usual, appear near perfect to me. Good to read you again. Ron

David, I don't know you well enough to comment on the content - we generally write what we know - good stuff - only a couple of nits. (my favorite smiley faces) ma'am, is off the shelf, no matter how it stands. Marion

I am ROTF not because of the humourous edge to this piece, but because it sounds like everyday speech and the rhythm of your dancing feet carries it off so well.
Off to review Chris's poem.
That storm you sent our way turned into a freakish ice extravaganza that downed trees and power lines.
Four days without power and five without the internet.
You should have seen me working on amphibrachs by candlelight at two in the morning. Annie would be proud!!
