The plate is blue. The sea is blue. Three blocks from the sea, the blue dish is what it is, a permanent blue, a see-through blue, a used blue.
Three blocks from the plate, the sea can change. My eyes work the same ebb and flow.

You capture the ebb and flow nicely with your words, Maggie, lulling the reader in a space of blue. What if you omitted "what it is" in S1? It doesn't add anything to my ear. Interesting.

Hi jon, the 'what it is" is essential to the shift in the 2S.
I'm having some fun with basic accentual meter.
