This is rather different for me.... i am puzzled by the use of "tuna sandwich" and how it relates to Plato the father of Greek philosophy... I see a shadow of disdain here... almost like the speaker doesn't respect the views of Plato, like his opinions aren't worth a tuna sandwich? Interesting .... Sanwich in your title? or Sandwich??

Michael:
sorry to disappoint but the poem is actually a parody of one of Plato's poems. No disdain, here.

no disappointment at all... sorry to say I am not up on my plato... so you could say I am lost... And as far as disappointment goes I can't ever remember a time when any of your poems have disappointed!!

I, too, am not up on my Plato, but there's that sound you always command in your work. It just rings. Ron

It's pretty ironic that he wrote poetry.
Ron, what about posting the Plato piece for all to read?

Mags:
not sure what you mean about for all to read... and I was pretty surprised to hook up with a poem by plato... gotta hand it to him... never a dull moment.

It would be nice to see where you inspiration came from was my thinking.
We could put both on the 'frontpage' so to speak.
I've come across a couple of pieces credited to him.

It would appear this sandwich is a Tuna on Rye, right, Ron? Nicely done.

Mags and the curious:
I have posted the Plato piece (epigram vii) I have only found three translations, but used the one found in Nims' Western Wind.
