Leo and I just returned from a two-day adventure to the mountains of NC..two great friends sharing poetry, laughter, and a drop of California wine as we traveled to Connermara - the idyllic mountain home of Carl Sandburg. Sandburg and his wife (who raised prize-winning goats on the huge mountain acreage) lived here for 22 years until he died at age 89. Leo and I were the only visitors there on a cold, misty day and the guide took us slowly through the house and property with great joy at having two poets there who knew and loved Sandburg. It was enlightening, peaceful, and celebretory. Wish you could each have been with us...you were all there in spirit. Tina

And you guys did this without my navigational skills, bet you had a gps; damned things are putting us Indians outta work. Glad y'all had a great trip, looks like it's also stirred a muse or two. Ron

the voice of Sandburg, his America drenched in the sweat of the working man, will always speak respect with honor...
