Crowds gather on either side of Main Street America.
Standing on a red cement sidewalk an angry old woman with blue hair yells, “Lazy bastards spending all my tax dollars.”
From the blue sidewalk an old stringy haired hippie retorts, “Greedy old foog, everyone pays taxes!”
The old lady flings her cane at the man and screams, “The Berlin Wall, you commie pig!”
The old hippie grabs the cane and puts it between his legs erect, “Suck this you Halliburton geriatric dotard!”
Walking down the middle of this muddy street a man chants like an old testament prophet,
“Yes we can,
Yes we can,
Yes we can
come together for a meal of corn bread and granola bars.”

O now, ain't THIS rich!!! "And you would know, politico!", yells michael, another old hippie, at the poet...and then, across the street, at the antique, whom she personally knows, "Hey, old sweet !! Ya better chill, yer blood pressure's freakin', an' yer HMO went belly-up today!"

Nice, Leo. I imagine we could fill volumes with what has been, what is happening, and what will be.
I love the use of red and blue in this one, and the middle of the street.

It's really not fair to be such a good poet and funny too. I love the ending...soooo much. Tina

Interesting piece. Very funny, very Leo.
Greens and granola, I like the contrast (but just not together or that would certainly be fusion cuisine and a culinary disaster).

ok, now it's got me wondering on the food. seems an awfully dry meal - got milk? could do collards and granola... candied yams... hmmm. I'll think on that.. granola and sweet tea? other than that, very enjoyable. well done with all the play and language, the blue and red, all the images and feelngs. -piper
