Not a hero – but a gentle man – uncertain soul… Not hewn of hardwood – but woven of the wisps of melody, memory, dapper style and grace… Not one of God’s avengers – but more an affable disciple of good will…
Robert F. Dannic – owner of a renowned collection of Vaughn Monroe records – veteran of naval ocean voyages and spaceship rides in his mind.
Our “Uncle Bob” – a diminutive man who suffered endlessly in his passing – holds a treasured place in our hearts.
And welcomed by his brother, Ed; sister, Joan; his parents, Myrtle and Ed; wife, Mimi and sister-in-law Annie –
a gentle fearful soul that I loved dearly has become one of heaven’s bright lights.
Godspeed, Uncle Bob – we thanked God as you took flight to heaven on silvered wings
*Written by my wife Jacque today as a Eulogy for her uncle Bob, whose funeral was today. I am taking the liberty of posting. Thank you.

J., please pass my deep sympathy and warm hugs to Jacque. Uncle Bob sounds like someone I would have treasured as much as she did. I did not know that Jacque was such a fine writer. This is touching and eloquent. Love, Tina

True beauty in words, Jon; your Jacque has breathed poetry into the passing of her uncle. That speaks volumes on very few words. Ron

A beautiful and very fine euology...I am sure it must have deeply affected the hearts of all who heard it...as it does here in this forum. I seem to hear Sefirot harmonics too, and i do not even know what they are!
I am sure Uncle Bob's heart-soul sings with delight when hearing this song of priase.
Really, it does not surprise me you married a poetess...Ofcourse you did! |
Hugs to Jacques...and all.
Namaste, rama devi

Thank you so much, to all of my husband's poetry friends, for your kind responses to my eulogy for Uncle Bob. Truth be told, the artist in me needs to put forth some kind of expression in moving through sad times and happy times. Many of you have seen my holiday greetings...while I spend my days in corporate America, these are the endeavours that keep my soul alive.
You all work at your craft at a much more dedicated level than I, so your kind words of acknowledgement are all the more meaningful. For me, it all comes down to my heart song...and I need to keep singing to keep breathing.
Warmest regards,
Jacque

Jacque,
I missed this earlier.
What lovely words.
