The local candy shop suggests you "say it with chocolate." The florist wants you to "say it with flowers." The cinema encourages you to "say it with a night out." The jeweler implies that "saying it with a diamond" will lead to an evening you will long remember.
But don’t be mislead. The person you want to say it to will get a kick out of the chocolate, will think the flowers are a bit extravagant, will enjoy the night out if it’s a good movie, and will take the diamond back to the jeweler and explain that her husband got carried away with his wishful thinking.
And if she knew you were trying to find a way to say it, she would say, "Just say it."

You are a very fortunate man Ken and it is obvious she is fortunate too. This is down to earth real, every day, without a doubt unexposed, love.

I have to attempt all Valentines celebrations at another date, and I just say it often (over the phone). Jane's a florist; I haven't seen her in two days except as she crawls into bed about midnight cursing Cupid. But I love the poem and after she recovers, I'll let her read it too, but for now I have to just say it again. Where's the phone? Ron

I really like this, Ken. Sorry I missed it earlier.
Love the way you use humor.

I like this one, and like how it shortens to the point at the end. I think I would prefer the first section to flow a little more into eachother than the stops at the ends of all the lines... other than that no suggestions, people need to just say it... over and over again.

Ken, Your poetic piece are so universal and relatable. I agree, in spite of the gifts, the woman still wants to hears the words, Happy Valentine's Day. I hope yours was pleasant.
