You used to rue the day that you were born
but later learned the gift defined by grace
would remedy the wounds that youth had torn
and trace angelic love upon your face.
For us, your words are stars that spark our hope
with gourmet nourishment to succor soul.
In cosmic flight your soul will now elope
to waltz with winds 'round stardust's farthest pole.
The starlight crafting curiosity
compelled your pen to draw in Heaven's breath
and share vibrations from the Mystery
that resonate in heart, and can't know death.
Let Your Love ever play him songs of bliss,
Dear Lord. I pray angelic fate be his.
NOTE--This sonnet is based upon two of Jarlsbane's works.
1) Sonnet for St. Valentine
I used to rue the day that I was born
So thusly brewed a draught of discontent
A drink to toast the life that I had scorned
And make the most of all my sins repent
I had no wish to find a spark of hope
No silver dish and spoon to feed my soul
No goblet gold to ease my upward slope
In age too old- the worth of love extol
Oft times in truth a plan is never known
And in my youth my sight was all but blind
But now such grace to me is boldly shown
While in your face I see a love so kind
Dear Lord I pray angelic fate be mine
I plead this day you be my valentine.
2) WHERE NO MAN
mysteries
of the universe
yet to unfold
a night sky riddled
with stars
glowing soft
and warm
each point of light
pulling
urging us
crafting curiosity
obedient to desire
we rise to heights
unattainable
by mere mortal man
we yearn to reach out
letting our spirits explore
the dark heavens
until
we are spread thin
upon cosmic winds
too thin
when
on a warm summer's eve
staring long
into heliotrope skies
the stars seem so close
you can feel
the wispy threads of dark matter
and quantum particles
brush across your upturned face
I am here
you there
between us
only stardust
a lover's triangle
binding us
the medium upon which
our souls embrace
and dance
we waltz 'round nebulae
twirl past the moons of Jupiter
your every breath
a vibration in the heavens
resonating upon my heart
the mysteries of the universe
contained in
you
and me
and the magic of
poetry
