Ron has won the Poetry Society of Oklahoma Ruby Barber Peace Award for "Memorial Day" and finished 2nd in the Helen Downing Memorial Award for "October Rising".

Hoots and hollers and congratulations, Ron!

Save a spot on the wall for the this year's Oklahoma Poetry Prize!
I have a feeling it's a comin' your way.

But wait, there's more good news: Ron's hanging up his spurs and tenure as a high school teacher at the end of this school year and donning penny loafers (just kidding, Cowboy) and the robes of a college professor.

Whatever you're going to be teaching, wish we all lived close enough to take your class!!

One little side note: All this excitement in his life has left Ron a little light-headed. He thinks the Yankees are going to kick the Red Sox's butt this year. (Silly cowboy.)

Thanks, my companeros, with all the extra time on my hands this fall, I might actually start on the longer prose work I've been threatening, but for now winning anything is cool.

I know Maggie and Ken are already sweating the Yankee youth movement. I'm making a trip to the Big Apple this summer before they tear down the house that Ruth built so get ready.
