he cries in bleak continuum with present-future-past
brittle lightning cracks muddy oceans open
a dying teen aged boy asks if the reason God comes
to his bed so often today is to bring him his old toys
no one else would he holds them and they feel so good
weeks ago his family left him they turned away in gay relief
their only fears had been about how they would finally lay him out
this was alleviated by the mortician who reassured them in his presence
that his kaposi’s sarcoma lesions wouldn’t be seen in a closed coffin
the boy weeps his death alone in time with birth pangs of the Earth
and healing music for the spheres rises to its rest in galaxies of God’s tears

This is sad as death can be especially when it's someone young as your piece illustrates. I like the way you sum this up in such a heavenly fashion which provides a healing for all who read this bereaved picture.
peace, anthony

you are right, Anthony----the poem is about two things, human blindness to the suffering of others, which is nearly always because of fear and ignorance, and human disease, in its myriad manifestations, all of which are healed, either directly or indirectly, through the power of compassion...
thank you, my brother, michael

Yes this is sad.........I was touched by God bringing toys......reverting back to the carefree days of early age. I know this poem must have resonated very strongly with you, Michael........esp S6. Tenderly composed.

Jon----you are right, of course----only recently have I begun to understand how very different a transgendered woman is from other human beings----hir whole perception of reality, both hir perception of hirself and the universe surrounding hir, and also hir entire life-response system, is different from that of the straight folks, and even that of the other gay folks----most, but not all, of those people consistently refuse/fail to understand hir differences, and simply resent hir for them, and are continually affronted by them...
this young boy never had the chance of a snowball in hell to find himself----ignorance saw to that, ignorance brought about by the fear and hatred of, and rejection by, his family, who threw him out of their home and into an environment which he was in no way prepared to handle, one where he simply could not survive...
you are such a rare love, my friend, michael
