You've watched me from a place unknown to most. They see it miles away and not within. Like Perry White, who cried "Great Caesar's Ghost!" I also court frustration 'midst the din
of mental mists that finds me too engrossed in reason, which has oft become the yin; the yang in need of being diagnosed could be the faith sequestered in chagrin.
Regrettably, there is no smart riposte to help dispel confusion that has been arising here--so I'll propose a toast to wisdom, giving it a different spin:
When searching for the Truth, please be advised- it may take lifetimes to be realized.

wonderfull, delightfully composed!----a treat, to be sure, and on my favorite subject too...cool...
I guess I go back to the old adage, "to be is to know"----in whatever limited form available, knowledge and being cannot be separated, even when a being does not know it knows, still, it does know, simply by virtue of its existence----knowing is simply another way of saying "being"...
and all beings have souls----our souls know they know----vive la difference! [all souls are feminine----now, I know I am not providing bibliographical subnotes here, but all the same, these things are the product of long study and prayer]...
I see you have placed reason in proper perspective to All----how marvelous!----such a liberating and peace-making choice is that!
"Come unto me, all ye that labour, and are heavy-laden, and I shall give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" [MATTHEW11:28-29]----two of my all-time favorite verses----you know, when you enter the All in meditation, you do find rest unto your soul----for reason has no value there----Jesus IS that rest, even when we don't know that, He still IS that for all of us, and that which we enter is actually Him, the One who is the interface between Malkut and the Ancient of Days...
you, my precious brother, are one of the truly meek persons I have known, and there have not been many----it is good the knowledge you seek takes time to learn, time for the expansion of your great soul, until it extends out into the universe, far beyond the size and scope of this planet, as it fulfills its incarnation's call to send love, joy, and peace into all who know and love you----and that is exactly what you have been doing for a very long time...

Lechiam!
This is certianly delightfully witty and very very truel. I agree with Michael that you are one of the rare souls who understands the importance of Humility.
Any sincere spiritual aspirant wil relate to this intimately! They say there are two types of spiritual progress, the vertical and the horizontal...vertical is when you get one of those glimpes of the supreme view...a flash of enlightenment or samadhi. It comes suddenly and leaves just as swiftly. Horizontal is when you slowly...so slowly...integrate that exprience into daily life and this growth is more gradual but permanent.
Five stars for content!
TECHNICALLY THIS IS A SUPERB SONNET.
another five stars.
You illumine the heavens...

John--
What a delight to see such a wonderfully crafted sonnet.
Just a few thoughts to give you your money's worth.
You've watched me from a place unknown to most. They see it miles away and not within. Like Perry White(,) who cried "Great Caesar's Ghost!" I also find frustration 'midst the din (I court frustration in the clanging din)
of mental mists that finds(find) me too engrossed in reason, which has oft'(oft) become the yin; the yang in need of being diagnosed could be the faith that hides inside chagrin. (...the faith sequestered in chagrin.) Regrettably(,) there is no smart riposte to help dispel confusion that has been arising here--so I'll propose a toast to wisdom, only with a different spin:
When searching for the Truth(,) please be advised- it may take lifetimes to be realized.

Hey, Sonnet-Guy,
This is nice. One thought in giving the wit another place to show itself: only with a different spin:
Regrettably, there is no smart riposte to help dispel confusion that has been arising here--so I'll propose a toast to wisdom that takes a different spin

Not in meter, Mags.
Maybe, if you want to say something like that, Jon, use
to wisdom with another kind of spin to wisdom that adopts a different spin, varied spin...
...or something like that.

Well done! You did a great job using so few rhymes in this one, and still have it go so smoothly as to be unnoticable. I think the line above works as is, but you might run into trouble with people and their accents, and syllable counts for "different". "varied" might work. "my tell tale spin" might work. "different" works, imo.

Good stuff, mi amigo, I think it's top notch as it is, but I do like David's idea of the "clanging din" line. Regardless, Bro, this is cool stuff. Ron

Thank you Michael, rama, David, Maggie, piper, and ron. I used some of David's suggestions in the revision, but didn't feel the "clanging din" leading into "mental mists."
Appreciate all of your feedback............Thanks

You're right of course. Mists don't clang, but the sound was pretty cool. I like the way you worked this one, Jon. Good work, Brother. Ron
