Welcome to emergingpoets.net.
The road toward a viable voice is a progressive adventure for most poets. For some it can happen early; a poet or poetess will find their voice, fine tune their skills, and if all’s right with the world, their work gains recognition, and inspires the rest of us to keep writing.
For others, it means time invested in learning how to adapt the art of crafting a poem, and maturing a voice. That means writing, writing, and more writing. It also means coming to understand that revision is an important tool in crafting a successful poem.
At emergingpoets.net, we do it by sharing what we know about writing poetry with each other in an on-line workshop environment that emphasizes a poet’s desire to improve his or her poetic skills through helpful critique.
If you decide to join us as a Registered Member, we’ll meet you in your reviews, in The Study Hall forum. Then we’ll get to know you better through the works you post. Ten reviews are required before you can begin posting your poems for critique. We believe reading and reviewing is a great way to introduce yourself before you begin to post. Don’t be shy about saying what’s on your mind about a poem you’ve read. We encourage honest reviews. Postings in The Study Hall are limited to one poem per day. We encourage fewer, but if you have an insistent muse, try and keep her to one poem a day.
The Saturday Club is a forum for poets who want to participate in more serious discussions of their work with other poets that is centered on craft. We hit hard, but we have fun, too. We recommend a poem a week for discussion.
You’ll find we are an encouraging and engaging group of poets who share your passion for the art of poetry. We hope your visit with us, whether by accident or design, will be an informative one, as well as pleasurable.
