I am surprised that the unintended apostrophe had gone by me unnoticed, so many times, but I have been in the supermarket, before, when the very Gold Medal flour that I had been searching for is staring me straight in the face, even all the while I'm swearing the item no longer exists. I am trying hard to draw a parallel. I blame GD, only because he is not here to defend himself, and that makes it easier. I'm wondering if you might not say something like:

I know the perfect place for when I'm sad,
afraid of shadows, or fighting mad—
It's Christ I give my heartaches to
My Lord, my Lord I come/go to you.

And in the chorus I'm wondering about syntax.
Maybe something like:

When I throw troubles on His lawn
I find His love to fall upon
God is great and God is good;
my head is bowed, I'm understood.

Maggie,
I did change a couple words in L1, and I inverted
lines 3 & 4; however, for singing purposes,
a lyricist has to keep the amount of syllables
in each line down to a bare minimum.

As far as syntax for the chorus, please imagine
a herald sounding a trumpet,opening
the body of content with a worthy and
royal announcement of God's goodness and greatness
("...enter His court with praise"). The "bowing" and
"throwing troubles" produces a contrast.

The title has a traditional and most effective use
when placed as the final line of each chorus or bridge.

thinking, which in turn caused me to make some changes.

P.S.
Maggie, your suggestion for using,"afraid"
in L2 is an excellent one for poetry, but the "K"
sound in "scared" is needed for a more contemporary
and dynamic sound for singing (especially being at the
beginning of a song). The compromise is sometimes
frustrating to the poet side of me. Gary

Greetings, Angel. I like your song. There are a few breaks in the rhythm which are relatively insignificant and could add style when sung out loud. I'm not sure about the apostrophe in the second part of line 5, verse 2. Since you precede that with the same two words sans contraction, it seems better in my mind if left that way the second time. Well done.
