We're sitting here beneath the moon, with hearts ablaze, each thought in tune- My gaze is lost in baby-blues, with hopes, at last, of love anew.
I'm captured here within a trance, in promises of high romance, tilting my head to angle left, your touch assured, rehearsed, adept.
I close my eyes, then draw you near with whispered words you long to hear. Fast fluttering, be still my heart! Our lips, this kiss, not worlds apart.
Such tenderness of fingertips you bridge the gap to kissing bliss- Our breaths, in swirl, they softly wait the second that our kiss abates-
But no, time stops; we linger here enrapt in joy, dismissing fear. Kiss on, now kissed, but kisses end, we part and leave as barely friends.
Though life goes on as life will do, perfectly kissed and so were you- recall the kiss that passed too soon, enamoured 'neath the stars and moon.

Dug from the archives as a result of reading Amanda's moon poem.

It's been too long since I read a poem from you old or new, thanks for this one. I'll try to muster up a critque later, but for now I'll just appreciate the high romance. (I Stole that from Keats) Ron

I absolutely love the sound, especially the rhyme!----read it aloud, and it kind of floats quietly by like the first warm, clear, spring day no one expected----a delight...

A romantic poem in these ultra-modern times is allways welcome, Tina. Thanks. Vasile

Sherry, "WOW" is too trite a word, but a classically honest one from me! This poem is in a style that brings to me a twinge of nostalgia, and a fantasy desire to write to Miss Scarlett. I think I remember in a different universe that I, and a guy named Jim, would practically race each other to the keyboard to sing her praises. Those were the days, and you still got it! Your poetry breathes a life of its own. _Gary
